Mufti met Prime Minister for more relief funds

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, asked the Centre to provide more funds for the relief and rescue operations in the aftermath of the October 8 killer quake.

The Mufti met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi,and demanded extra funds for rehabilitating the people who had lost their families and homes in earthquake.

The Mufti's comments came as New Delhi reiterated last week that nobody was shelterless and that the government would ensure adequate relief to the calamity-hit region.

More than 1,300 people have been confirmed dead in Jammu and Kashmir, and 50,000 in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and aid agencies say the numbers could double.
