10th fire ritual in J&K

Kashmiris from all walks of life today participated in a fire ritual for peace and prosperity for Indian Kashmir, which was hit hard by last month's earthquake that has killed 1,300 people.

Since the day of the earthquake, this is the 10th fire ritual to be held in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Two previous rituals were held in Akhnoor and Udhampur.

According to existing tradition, the public performing the ritual has to go around the holy fire 108 times.
