Clothing of J&K
Jammu and Kashmir is called as the paradise of India. The people of J&K are full of traditionalworks. They are more specialise in their traditional crafts. In clothing, phiran is a commonly worn garment. It is a gown made of wool and has a lot of embroidery work done on it. These gowns are decorated with colourful embridery and designs.
Both men and women find it easy and comfortable to wear these phirans as they are very warm and loose. These phirans can accommodate hot water bags or little earthen pots with burning coal. This helps them to stay warm in the extremely cold climate.
Kashmir is very popular for its Pashmina shawls. These shawls are made from the traditional woolen textile. The Kashmiri stoles are also very popular. Most women who follow Islam wear the abaya.
J&K women have a traditional outfits of silver jewelry. Most Kashmiri women wear silver chains with heavy pendants. They wear heavy silver earnings. Men wear coats made of camel hair, cashmere and brocade. They prefer to wear it on some wedding or on any occasions.
