Peer Kho Temple in Jammu

The Peer Kho cave temple, was founded by Sidha Garib Nath, a mystic, in the same century during the reign of Raja Ajaib Dev.The another name of this cave is "Jamawant Cave". It is said to be the oldest historic place in the Shivalik region. It is located 3.5 kms from North-East of Jammu city on the circular road above Tawi river.

Presently, Peer Kho constitutes of two caves located at a depth of about 20 to 30 ft. below the surface of the temple complex. This shrine is dedicated to Shiva and a naturally formed Shivaling is worshipped here. The antiquity of this lingam is not known.

A normal person has to walk on bending while crossing the cave. The length of this portion is about 15 ft and breadth about 3 ft. After this tunnel comes a broader cave with black colored natural Shivlingam in the center. This pentagonal cave is about 12 ft. in height and about 12 ft. wide.
