200 J&K government employees suspended
The Congress party-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir has suspended over 200 state government employees on charges of alleged corruption.
By taking this step, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has sent across a tough message that corruption will not be tolerated by his government.
The latest anti-corruption drive in the state comes in the wake of the Jammu and Kashmir State Assembly becoming the first in the country to pass a law to attach the ill-gotten property of any of the accused.
Azad heading a 20-member ministerial team, can now accommodate only five more in his ministry whereas his predecessor had 40 ministers in his cabinet.
